Our coaches bring a wealth of experience to the table, having coached and played for dozens of baseball teams across the country. Their diverse backgrounds ensure that every athlete receives top-notch guidance and support helping them reach their full potential. COACH

Blake Walden

Blake is a Lubbock native and a lifelong student of the game. A 2014 graduate of Monterey High School, he served as captain of both the football and baseball teams and spent his youth competing with West Texas ABA.

After high school, Blake continued his pitching career at New Mexico Junior College, Texas State University, and the University of New Mexico, gaining experience at every level of competitive collegiate baseball. Following his playing career, Blake moved to Kansas to coach for the Seward County Saints before returning home to Lubbock where he is a physical education teacher at Preston Smith Elementary. 

With years of playing and coaching experience behind him, Blake brings a deep understanding of baseball mechanics, discipline, and player development. He is committed to helping every athlete sharpen their skills, elevate their performance, and grow their confidence on the field.

COACH

Travis Walden

Travis graduated from Monterey High School in Lubbock where he helped lead the Plainsmen to the 1981 State Championship and later went on to Lubbock Christian University. While at LCU, Walden helped then LCU head coach Larry Hays win the 1983 NAIA National Championship. Following his tenure at LCU he played three seasons (1986-88) in the Philadelphia Phillies organization.

 

Travis spent six years as an assistant baseball coach at Monterey before moving to Abilene where he was an assistant at Hardin Simmons for two seasons. He went on to serve as a Pitching Coach in the Texas Rangers organization and later as the Head Coach at Vernon Junior College for five years. 

Travis spent two seasons (2004-05) as the Pitching Coach at Texas Tech, then served as the Head Coach for three years at Trinity Christian High School before taking over as Pitching Coach for Monterey High School, where he coached his son Blake.
